    Default "Meaning?" correctly used?

    Hi,

    Can you say:

P1: Let's suprise her with a late birthday cake!
P2: It's not her birthday anymore
P3: I know, but it's the meaning that counts!

    Thanks

The expression is "it's the thought that counts."

In this case, "better late than never" is a better expression.

    Hi,

Personally, I would have said "it's the intention that counts", although this is a direct translation of the Spanish expression for similar cases.

    Greetings,
