Is it proper to understand the following sentence(original sentence from dictionary)
"My father built the business up from scratch.
(Original sentence.)"
into
"My father developed the business from start."or "My father developed the business from beginning." ?

Re: Is it right to understand "scratch from", "build up" as "beginning", "develop"?

"My father developed the business from start." "My father developed the business from beginning." ?
These would be better phrased by saying the following:

My father developed the business from its very beginning.

My father developed the business from the very beginning.

My father developed the business from the start.

My father developed the business from a start up.

I hope this helps.
