    past perfect

teacher, are these sentences correct? Did I use the right tenses?

I met Shing yesterday and she told me that her elder sister had passed away last month. She said that her sister had been suffering from cancer for many years.

    Re: past perfect

Yes, but you could also say elder sister passed.
