Lightbulb Active and passive sentences/voices - speaking exercise/task

Hi everyone! I'm new to the forums as I'm about to complete my CELTA this week.

I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm doing a grammar lesson on active/passive sentences but I'm struggling to come up with a speaking exercise. I've checked online and in books but the exercises are mostly written.

I would appreciate it very much if someone can help.

    Many thanks.

    Tony.

How advanced are the students- are you presenting this for the first time?

It's the first time I'm teaching it. It's for an upper-intermediate class and the theme is "How was it done?" (inventions)

I teach in the rarified world of EAP, so it's a very long time since I've done this sort of thing. However, it looks to me, given the title, that they're looking for a simple description using the passive to describe the steps in a process, where the process is the focus. As it's inventions, just get something that proceeded in steps, like TV, starting with the rapid photography of Edward Muybridge, through Marconi and Filo Farnsworth. youshoudl be able to dig out some pictures or drawing for this, then the students can use these as prompts for language containing a lot of natural passives.

In addition, what about a multiple choice, quiz show type exercise? For example, you could use pictures of, say, famous places around the world and verbs such as made, create, built, constructed, erected; e.g.,

When was such and such a building erected?
    When was the Universe created?
