This is only my opinion based on what I have read.
1. "I like him." If you want to emphasize the "liking," you can add "really." It makes the "liking" stronger. For example:
"I
really appreciate your help." (It equals something like "very much.")
2. Tom: I like him.
Mona: I do not believe you.
Tom: I like him
, really! = Believe me. (OR: Really, I like him. Maybe you do not believe me, but I am telling the truth!)
