After we had several times met

After we had several times met, without coming to an agreement, they went to Brussels for some days, to know the Prince's pleasure; and, since our business would admit it, I went to Antwerp.
    (Utopia; Thomas More)

How does it sound to the contemporary ear and would you say it today?

    Thanks.

Re: After we had several times met

    Hi,

It sounds dated. Today you would most likely hear "After we had met several times"

It sounds dated, I can't imagine many people saying it like that.
