Government hospitals discharge patients home early.
I think the above is correct.

He feel unwell after his discharge home.
I am not sure whether the above is correct?

Do you write the words 'after his discharge home'?

Patients were discharged from hospital as they got new patients.
This is correct.

Discharge home

Hospitals discharge patients early.
This is fine.

He felt unwell after his discharge home.
I am not sure whether above is fine.

Do you say discharge home?

Patients were discharged from hospitals as they got new patients.
This is correct.

I want to know about the words ‘discharge home’.
It sounds unnatural for me.

I've never met 'discharge home'. Patients are either 'discharged' or 'sent home'.

I'm not sure what you mean by your last example, which you say is correct. What do you want to say? Either 'There was a constant stream of patients. As fast as they were discharged, new patients were registered' or 'Regardless of their state of recovery, patients were discharged as soon as their beds were needed for new patients'?

Government hospitals discharge patients home early.
I think the above is correct.
No. Government hospitals discharge patients before the patients are well enough. As has already been said "discharge home" is incorrect. If you use "early" people may think that you mean at, for example, 8.00 in the morning.

He feel unwell after his discharge home.
I am not sure whether the above is correct?
No. He felt unwell after he was discharged.

Do you write the words 'after his discharge home'?
No.

Patients were discharged from hospital as they got new patients.
This is correct.
No. Patients were discharged because/when new patients arrived.

See above.

Thanks for the replies.

He was ill and admitted to hospital.
The hospital discharged him and now he is at home. However, he felt unwell again.
In this case, do you say the following?

He felt unwell after his discharge home.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our friend 5jj has written what is/are DK's.
I have the same question.

Have you bothered to read the responses people have taken the time to post? That question was answered in post #3 and #5.

You wrote the title Dks. Surely you are not also asking the question "What is/are Dks?" You need to tell us why you used it as the title.

Thanks for the replies. This question is from my husband.
Our friend 5jj wants me to read the replies 3 and 5 again. The reply 5 is a blank one.

The reply 3 is the following:
I've never met 'discharge home'. Patients are either 'discharged' or 'sent home'.

I'm not sure what you mean by your last example, which you say is correct. What do you want to say? Either 'There was a constant stream of patients. As fast as they were discharged, new patients were registered' or 'Regardless of their state of recovery, patients were discharged as soon as their beds were needed for new patients'?
.............................................................................
So I assume it is incorrect to say 'discharge home'.

Reply number 5 is not blank. It is my reply. The information I typed is shown in red in the quote box. I typed the words "See above" so that you would know to look in the box above those words.

"To discharge home" is indeed incorrect.

It is. But some people may do it, and they will probably be understood - to that extent it's meaningful. That's why I just said 'I've never met it'.

(In fact, I've just thought of a context in which it might be possible; but I find extreme examples based on unlikely contexts don't help most students and can cause unnecessary confusion - although they're quite fun for language geeks like me to generate and contemplate. ;-))

Thanks for the replies.
Emsr, on my computer the reply number 5 is blank.
I don't see anything in red.
The words 'See above' is visible. Nothing in red!

Hello, Tina.:-D
Can you see those quote parts that say "Originally Posted by..."?
Mine (,which says "Originally Posted by Tina3") is above the sentence "Hello, Tina."

Re: Discharge home

Thanks emsr
Now it is clear for me.

I have heard hospitals discharge patients although they are not really feeling well; probably this is not the case in the UK.
I guess NHS is the best in the world. Maybe the best health care in the world!

You have written the following:

He feel unwell after his discharge home.
I am not sure whether the above is correct?
No. He felt unwell after he was discharged.

No.

No. Patients were discharged because/when new patients arrived.

My husband and I find this is interesting. So the native English speaker would not say hospitals got new patients.
You would say 'new patients has arrived to the hospital'.

He feel unwell after his discharge home.
The above is not accurate and it should be '
He felt unwell after his discharge home.'
You are English; so you can easily notice mistakes.

The NHS may be free but it's far from perfect and far from the best healthcare in the world. Believe me, they regularly discharge people who don't feel well or who consider that they are not well enough to go home, but the pressure on beds is very high and they really only keep people in hospital if they need constant medical attention, or if they are incapable of looking after themselves at home.

Re: Discharge home

Thanks emsr
It is the same in this country too. I've heard the problem lies in lack of beds.
