Question Which word is the best choice in my sentence?

    Hello,

If I want to repair a machine, which verb I need to use to "realize the weakness of the machine"? Are those bold words used correctly?

Many thanks in advance for your help,

I mean finding the problems of an engine or a machine.

Is it possible to have the whole sentence. It will be helpful when we know the context.
Also, "finding the the problems of an engine" and "fixing the problems of an engine" are different.

You have to diagnose the problem before you can fix it.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

Re: Which word is the best choice in my sentence?

    Hello,

Thank you so much for your help "dhvh" and "Barb-D". I referred to the story telling about the mechanic who fixed the steam boiler of a ship and he was asked for the details of his services.

Your answered helped me a lot.

    Best reards
