Priests offer sacrifices as well.

I decided to leave this alone because I've never really understood who offers the Sacrifice of the Mass in the Roman Catholic Church (which I guess works the same way in Orthodoxy). Is it the faithful, the presbyter or Christ? I think all of these answers can be found somewhere, and probably one can also find an explanation of that too, but I've never looked for it. It seems a bit complicated.

The myths, rituals and hierarchies of the various branches of the Christian and other monotheistic churches are indeed complicated. However, they have little to do with this thread. Here we seem to have established that 'imam' is probably the word atabitaraf was looking for. Whether or not an imam is a 'priest' is perhaps not something that linguists can decide. That's something for popes, cardinals, patriarchs, metropolitans, archbishops, bishops, archdeacons, deacons, priests, clerics, vicars, canons, divines, rectors, rabbis, ecclesaisatics, imams, ayotollahs, mullahs, ministers, padres, pastors, chaplains, clergy, witch doctors, cobleighs et al .
