    Default Cheers!

    Hi teachers,

    1) On an English blog, the poster always ends his topic by saying: Cheers! and his name below. Do you think that the "cheers!" is suitable and the mark of exclamation?

    2) "Cries of animals and birds" Is it correct? Is there a single word to combine "animals and birds" used for both?

    Many thanks.

The word is not unsuitable, though I wouldn't use it. The same goes for the punctuation.

There is the word 'fauna', but it's rather academic; it also includes reptiles (as well as mammals and birds; both reptiles and mammals are animals).

'Cheers' is fine in informal contexts. I wouldn't use an exclamation mark, but it's not my blog.

What word would you use at the end of the post if you had a blog? I need your opinions.

I've just looked at my blog to check. As I thought, I didn't use anything. I said what I had to say and stopped. It's a bit like posting messages in this forum. Some people seem to feel the urge to say 'bye' or 'have a nice day' or 'best wishes' or some similar expression of good will. I don't.
