    act out dreams

"It's still common that many mothers try to act out their unrealized dreams through their daughter or son."

Is the underlined phrase a natural collocation?

As far as I know, we can realize/fulfill a dream. Can we "act out" a dream?

    Thanks

    Jason

As far as I know, we can realize/fulfill a dream. Can we "act out" a dream? Yes. A dream in that context can mean a goal or an ambition that someone (the mother) never achieved.

    Thanks
