Hi teachers,
Which one is correct?
a) What did Felix do and ask slowly at the door?
b) What did Felix do and slowly ask at the door?

Thanks in advance.

b) What did Felix do and slowly ask at the door?

Neither of them is terribly natural but without knowing what the piece says, it's hard to say whether on or the other (or another suggestion) might be better.

The difference at the moment is that question a) means that Felix did something slowly and asked something slowly (ie "slowly" refers to both "do" and "ask").

Question b) means that Felix did something (at an unspecified speed) and asked something slowly (ie "slowly" only refers to "ask").

Hi,
Thank you for your reply.
This is the context:
At the door Felix turned and looked at her. Dead? he asked slowly.

Question b) means that Felix did something (at an unspecified speed) and asked something slowly (ie "slowly" only refers to "ask").

I guess it is option 'b' then.

I would go with something like "What did Felix do at the door and what did he slowly ask?"

Hi,
Thank you for your reply. To separate the questions it's a much better idea.:-D
