    Default had or had?

    At the time when Tom finished his homework, he has not yet had the dinner.

    Should "has" or "had" be used in the above sentence?

    "Had" is correct here.
    The following sounds more natural to me: "When Tom finished his homework, he had not yet had his dinner."
