Choosing between connote, imply, suggest etc.

    Hi,

I want to describe a list of words in the following fashion:

    CONCRETE
    -Charasteristics: eight-letter; two-syllable etc.
    -Connotes: firmness; reliability etc.

    or, say

    BRILLIANT
    -Charasteristics: nine-letter; two-syllable etc.
    -Connotes: intelligence; wit etc.

Is 'connotes' the right choice? Or should I use implies, suggests or ?? instead?

Re: Choosing between connote, imply, suggest etc.

The verb 'connote' is rather formal. As you have used the noun 'characteristics', why not use the noun 'connotations', which is more widely used and is, in my opinion, appropriate?

Thanks for the reply. I'll do exactly that.
