    Default "into"vs."to", which is better?

    1) Breast cancer cells can destroy a powerful immune response in the body and allow the disease to spread into the patient's bones, researchers in Australia reported on Monday.

We say, "cancer spreads to the bones/liver/lungs etc.", not 'into' - although 'into' is implied.
Note it's not the breast cancer cells that allow the disease to spread, it's the destruction of the powerful immune response.
