i need some help so as to be able to help my fifteen year old son write a formal letter. I want to write a formal invitation ot Ann boyce inviting her to speak at a school awards evening on the 13th of march.
Its for his year 10 GCSE. Many Thanks
Basically, I'd say you need to do the following: 1 Use good stationery and use formal layout for addresses, etc (http://www.usingenglish.com/cgi-bin/...ump.cgi?ID=653) 2 explain clearly what you are invititing her to do- We are having a school awards evening on the 13th of March and it would be a great honour for us if you would kindly consent to say a few words/ speak (and also say whether she's expected to dish out the prizes) 3 Practical information, the name of the school, location 4 a bit more flattery- I do hope that your busy schedule will allow you to be there as it would... 5 Try to find out something about her that you can drop in- I'm afraid I don't know who she is as I'm in Tokyo, but try to make it clear that you have asked her for a particular reason 6 Thank her and close the letter Yours sincerelyOriginally Posted by EMAIL REMOVED - Send PM to This User Instead
