    join or attach

The young man had no hair on the sides of his head and a patch of blue hair on top of it. He had a nose ring, which was _______ to a ring he was wearing in his ear by a chain.
    A. joined B. attached

I think both make sense, but have different meanings.

    Am I right?

Which of them sounds natural from a native's point of view?

    Thanks!

    Jason

    Only "attached" is correct.

    Re: join or attach

I would not use joined with a chain- it would need to be more fixed than that.

Thanks for your reply! Could I ask in what situation "joined" is more used? Does this word give the impression of being less fixed from a native's point of view?
