    Many fire stations across the UK are refusing to do any work other than answer 999 calls. *

    it is answer but not answering because "to" is put before "other than". Am I reight ??? Many thanks. :)

    I don't think so, ' answering ' is acceptable too :)

    I agree with whl626 that it could be answer or answering. I don't think to in that sentence is relevant to that.
