    Cool Comparison

    “In Japan elderly people are treated with far greater respect than they are in most Western countries.” Why should I add "they are" here? Can I leave out "they are" here? Thank you!

    NOT A TEACHER

    You don't have to add "they are". You can leave it out.

    A better title would have been With or without 'they are'.
