Hello everyone, :)

Just as the title says, I am really confused with this "so to speak" thing.

As you see I am not a native English speaker, my mind tends to accept only the simplified explanations of

terms/phrases/idioms/words.

So could someone please explain when and how to use "so to speak" with simple explanation so I get the meaning of

it? Furthermore, could you give some easy examples using "so to speak"?

I'll be really grateful.

Thank you.

@ Rover ... So does it mean I use it at the end of the sentence when what I said isn't "literally" the way I said it but I just said it to maybe to make it sound a little humorous/funny/sadder/clearer/descriptive/different?

You seem to have grasped it, but it doesn't always come at the end of the sentence.

hmmmm... Could you please give me one or two sentences with it? Some casual sentences from daily routine, the ones most commonly used?

Have you tried COCA? I just did a search, which yielded 2573 citations.
