    other people

    Can one say:

1-John and Joe are not my friends. Other people are.

    instead of:

2-John and Joe are not my friends. Certain other people are.

    -----------------------------------

    Can one say:

3-He doesn't want to go to war. He wants to send other people.

    instead of:

4-He doesn't want to go to war. He wants to send some other people

    Gratefully,
    Navi.

(A good test to see if a sentence is correct is to imagine that you meet someone on the street and say the sentence to them. Given this, imagine that you see someone and say, "Other people are", or, "Certain other people are". Would either of these utterances make sense to the other person? If the answer is, as it such be, no, then try to combine the elements of #1 and see if it makes sense.)
