1) I am ashamed that I failed.

= I am ashamed of having failed.

2) I was ashamed that I had failed.

=I was ashamed of having failed.

3) I was ashamed that I failed.

= I was ashamed of failing.

The examples above are right? And in #1, "I am ashamed of failing" is also possible and used for the same meaning? Also "I am ashamed that I fail" is possible in logic and meaning?

What do you think? Thank you so much as usual.

1) I am ashamed that I failed.

= I am ashamed of [STRIKE]having failed.[/STRIKE]failing. Or 'I am ashamed of my failure'.

2) I was ashamed that I had failed.

=I was ashamed of [STRIKE]having failed.[/STRIKE]failing.

3) I was ashamed that I failed.

= I was ashamed of failing.

To me, 'having failed' does not sound natural. 'Failing' or 'failure' sounds like the more natural word choice.

I think it's the placement of 'having' that I find difficult/un-natural.

It sounds perfectly natural to me.
