Question looking for an expression for overly lenient grading

    hello,
what is the word/expression for the situation in which the teacher gives more points that she/he actually should so that the student passes or gets a higher grade?
    thanks,

The teacher inflated the student's grade.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

Please use correct capitalisation in your posts. It sets a good example to new learners.
