1. I can't get what "looking in at Brian at the shelter and the fire" means. Did the skunk see Brian or "the shelter and the fire"?
2. What does "to his right" mean? What is the difference between "reached his right" and "reached to his right"?
ex)The skunk wasn't four feet away, looking in at Brian at the shelter and the fire, and as he watched, it whipped up its rear end and tipped its taile over and aimed directly at his face. I'm dead, he thought. For a long time they stayed that way. Brian holding his breath waiting to be sprayed, and the skunk aiming at him. But the skunk didn't spray. Just aimed and held it.
