    Default Beginning, begins

In the word game I spy, one would say : I spy with my little eyes something beginning with ...... Would it be correct in grammatical sense if I say : I spy with my little eyes something begins with...?

    Please show me the difference!

    Thank you!

    No, it wouldn't be grammatical.

You could say 'I spy with my little eye (not 'eyes') something that begins with ...', but millions of children in the English-speaking world would soon put you right.

    Thanks for that Rover!
By the way, 'eyes' was just a typo ( it's just how my mind works; when I think of eye, it's always in a pair).

What I really want to know is, say if I was to explain the sentence structure to someone by breaking it down step by step, how should I go about doing it?

Also why is it necessary to have the relative pronoun 'that' in the case when I use 'begins'.
