    Default a Paul Mccartney concert

    Hello,

Should I use 'a' when talking about a concert I went to? For example,

I went to a (?) Paul McCartney concert the other day.

    or

When I was a child, I went to (a? the ?) Beatles concert.

    Thank you.

You can use either for the first.

'I went to a Paul McCartney concert the other day.'
'I went to the Paul McCartney concert the other day.'

'When I was a child, I went to a Beatles concert.'

If you said, 'when I was a child, I went to the Beatles concert.' You would be giving the impression there was only one.
I'm not a teacher yet, but I am studying a Bachelor of Education with an English Literature major at Charles Sturt University, in NSW, Australia.

We would use "a" in both those examples. If you change the word order, you may see why:

    - I went to a concert by Paul McCartney the other day.
    - When I was a child, I went to a concert given by The Beatles.
Remember - correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing make posts much easier to read.

Thank you! It's the names that confused me.

If the person you are talking to knows about the Paul McCartney concert that happened in town last week, you could say "I went to the Paul McCartney concert last week."
