Is the following sentence #1 acceptable? If it is, how to phrase the similar idea that we should pay much importance to a common, ordinary CD-ROM, and we shouldn't misuse it as a coaster or a frisbee to cast off.

1. Even a common, ordinary brick wants to be something more than it is.
2. Even a common, ordinary CD-ROM is worth making good use of it.

In the West, a sentient being is a being who can perceive sensations and feel pain and pleasure. A brick is a combination of clay, water and straw. A brick is not considered to be a sentient being. Given this definition, a brick cannot want anything.
2. Even a common, ordinary, CD-ROM is worth making good use of it.
Even a common, ordinary, CD-ROM is worth making good use of.
This may or may not be true, depending on the content of the CD.
How about? "A well thought out CD should be used with care, as one can learn from it".
