    Video play back

    Hello there,

Let's assume you are a teacher and you told a student to read a passage. If you interrupted the student to explain a word, then you would say "read on please" when you want them to resume reading.

Now if you and your little son are watching a video on his computer and you asked him to pause the video to comment on a scene, how would you ask him to resume the video playback in the same way the teacher asks the student using the combination "read on" ?

Bear in mind, I know I can tell him to resume, but this is more of a formal English register, and what I want is an informal way of telling him. How would you (personally) ask him to play back the video again

Would you tell him to :
    - (just) play back, or
    - play on*
    - play away*
    - go on
    - play back again

    * I suspect ever the use of these combinations !

    Thanks a lot

    - Sdudah

    Re: Video play back

I'd probably say either, "OK" (my meaning will be clear from the context), or "Carry on".

    Re: Video play back

Thank you 5jj. "you are very generous"; I did not expect to get an "OK" for all of them esp. for "play on".

    Re: Video play back

I might also use "Move on" or "OK, hit Play again" or "Keep going".

Note that 5jj didn't say that all of your suggestions are OK. He said that he would probably simply say the "OK" to the child and the child would know that he meant "OK, carry on".

    Thanks.

I did not make it clear that I thought that none of the original sentences was OK.

    Re: Video play back

In the context, I think go on is OK.
