    Default Undertones vs. Overtones

    Is there a difference between "undertones" and "overtones". Not in their artistic usage, but in their use in common speech as implict subtle meanings.
    E.G.
    This contained undertones of implausability...
    His words were loaded with moral overtones...

    I would use 'overtones' with a positive association and 'undertones' with a negative one- I wouldn't, say, use 'moral undertones'.
