Unhappy I need help with diagraming a sentence.

Here is the sentence I'm hoping someone can enlighten me about.

Mom hadn't known that Nathan would be given an award for the portrait he drew.

I know this is a compound sentence..Mom had known (subj. and verb) "n't " is an adv. modifying the verb "had known", "that" is a conjunction, "Nathan would be given " (subj. and verb), "an" (article) modifying the noun "award", "for the portrait" (prep. phrase) goes under "award", but where do I diagram the words "he drew".

What am I not thinking of?

We don't do diagramming in the UK, so I can't help much, but I can point out that 'an' is an article not an adjective.

Thanks for the input...you are right, of course, that an is an article. I was explaining it the lazy way, I guess. It is diagrammed as you would diagram an adjective.

OK. We don't do diagramming in the UK- I had never seen it before I started using the internet, so I have little experience of it.
