    No, I didn't. I was ill.

    Did you go to school yesterday?

    They're both perfectly acceptable. I would simply add a second comma in the second response.
    Remember - correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing make posts much easier to read.

    Please read this extract from the forum's Posting Guidelines, Over the top:

    'Thread titles should include all or part of the word/phrase being discussed.'

    Did you go to school yesterday?
    would have been good for this.
