    Default Which tense to use

What are the options as for which tense to use when describing a picture? I think the Present Continuous/Simple are possible. Which one of them is better in your opinion?

Do you have an example sentence?

You can use almost any tense that works: "The picture would have been more impressive if the painter had used more red."
If you're going to use the same tense throughout, the continuous could become irritating. You can mix those two tenses: "The sun shines on a horse and buggy travelling along a road"; "The sun is shining and a horse and buggy travels along a wide road."

There's no hard and fast answer to this- both are possible, so I would say use what feels right to you at the time.
