    Question Indefinite article before u..

Hi, I have heard two opposite opinions in this: Which indefinite article, 'a' or 'an' should we put before words starting with the letter "u"?

    Thanks in advance,
    Nyggus

    Re: Indefinite article before u..

    It depends on the pronunciation:
    a union/universe/university (consonant sound)
    an umbrella/umbilical cord/uncle (vowel sound)
