Hello,

Could somebody tell me which of the sentences below sound natural, please? I'm looking for a good verb to use with 'colours' and 'emotions'.

A person is describing a picture of a man.

a). The dark colours chosen by the artist perfectly convey the man's emotions and add to the overall oppressive atmosphere of the picture.

b). The dark colours chosen by the artist perfectly reflect the man's emotions and add...

c). The dark colours chosen by the artist match /are matched up with the man's emotions and add ...

I don't think c) reads well. Are there perhaps better alternatives?

Thank you.

C doesn't read well. Perhaps try "mirror" instead of "match/are matched up with".
