[Grammar] This movie is interesting me....?

s1. This movie is interesting.

I have seen a lot of sentences like s1.
It represents the speaker's thinking or view.
I think he must have seen the movie.

s2. This movie is interesting me.

But I have rarely seen sentences like s2.
It is a present progressive sentence.
I think probably he haven't seen the movie.

Can we use a sentence like s2?
And does it have the meaning I wrote?

Is the verb 'interest' stative?
Can't it be used for present progressive?

It's very unnatural with "xxx is interesting me" although not entirely impossible.

If someone is watching a film and they want to make a statement halfway through about how interesting or otherwise they are finding the film, they might say "This film is holding my interest so far".
