    who I know might

Which of the following are correct:

1-The man who I know will tell my husband is Harry.

2-The person who I am afraid might tell my husband is Harry.

3-The person who I fear might tell my husband is Harry.

4-The person who I am afraid most might tell my husband is Harry.

5-The person who I fear most might tell my husband is Harry.

    Gratefully,
    Navi.

    Correct.

2-The person who I am afraid might tell my husband is Harry.

    Correct.

3-The person who I fear might tell my husband is Harry.

    Correct.

4-The person who I am afraid most might tell my husband is Harry.

Incorrect. I am most afraid, not I am afraid most.

5-The person who I fear most might tell my husband is Harry.

Grudgingly marked correct, although I prefer most fear to fear most.

    Gratefully,
    Navi.

Hi Kiwi Watcher, if you're going to be answering questions in the "Ask a Teacher" forum, you need to state that you are not a teacher. Also, you should try to punctuate and quote properly. There are no spaces before commas or periods, and you can't join two sentences with a comma.
This is important because many students here tend to base their usage on that of native writers.

As Clarence Darrow so elegantly put it, "Even if you do learn to speak correct English, whom are you going to speak it to?"

This forum is about helping people learn English.

And you are not a teacher.

Jut in case learners are unclear, 'whom' is not correct.

May I ask you something? Why didn't you put the preposition 'of' in that sentence after 'afraid' because we normally say that e.g. 'I am afraid of you'?

-The person who I am afraid of might tell my husband is Harry.

    Is that wrong to use?

    Re: who I know might

You are not afraid of Harry. You are afraid that Harry might tell your husband.
