[Vocabulary] whats the difference b/w tack and take???

please can any one explain the difference b/w tack and take with some examples???:?:

TACK:
Noun:
  1. A small, sharp, broad-headed nail.
  2. Equipment used in horse riding, including the saddle and bridle.
Sentence: I used tacks to display the oster on the board.

Verb:

  1. Fasten or fix in place with tacks.
  2. Put tack on (a horse).
Sentence: She tacked the poster on the softboard.

Take: To gain/acquire/get/receive something - If some one gives you something, you take it from him/her.

Sentences:
I have taken my copy back.
I took my copy back.
I took notes during the lecture. (In this sentence it does not mean that one took notes from any one else, but made them by him/her self)
