    Default His Serene Majesty

I've heard "Your Majestry" in dramas and films a lot, so what difference does "HSM(His Serene Majesty)" have, especially "Serene"?

st80)As a result of his successful books, George Washington Williams became a pupular lecturer and made several trips to Europe...Outraged by what he saw, Williams wrote "An Open Letter to His Serene Majesty, Leopold II, King of the Belgians." In it, he denounced the king and his rule in Africa.

As an NES but not an English teacher:

I believe it is meant in the same way as: "with the greatest possible respect ....".
This normally precedes something such as: " I believe you are talking a lot of rubbish!" or similar.

    Hope this helps
    Regards

"His Serene Majesty" was the style used by the Belgian royal family.

As someone once said: "I bet there's a lot of people that don't know that!"

"Not a lot of people know that!"
Remember - correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing make posts much easier to read.
