(0) He told me: "You shouldn't worry if I arrive a little late". (I borrowed the example)

How to report the if-clause?
Does it matter whether the arrival in question is still ahead (1) or well in the past (2)?
Like:

(1) He said (that) I should not worry if he arrives a little late. (?)

(2) He said (that) I should not worry if he would arrive a little late. (???)

Thank you for your comment.

He told me I shouldn't worry if he he arrived/arrives a little late.

With 'arrived' I have backshifted; with 'arrives' I haven't. Both are fine.
