What is the difference between?

1) I am a social person.
2) I am a communicative person.

Not a lot, in effect, if by 'social' you mean 'sociable'. A single person is not usually called 'social' - but you do hear things like 'Homo sapiens is a social animal' (where it means 'participating in social contacts/networks').

But it rather depends what you mean by 'communicative'; the prefix 'com-' (cum - 'with') suggests to me that there's a sender and a receiver involved. But sometimes 'communicative' is just used to mean talkative, voluble or opinionated, and in that case someone can impart information without being sociable.)

Is I am an extroverted person a common expression among native speakers?

There's a noun that does that job more efficiently: 'I'm an extrovert' [also spelt extravert.

I didn't know that until I checked, Bob.

You're right, of course, but I'd advise students to stick to 'extrovert' so as not to be thought wrong.

Vice versa for me. I've always spelt it "extrovert" (same with "introvert") and was very surprised to see "extravert".
