    Default accelerator

    accelerator (of a car)
It's rather a long word. Are there any shorter terms?
Also what is the verb form? 'Step on the accelerator', 'step on the gas', 'release the gas'?
    Thank you.

Thank you, tdol. Is 'gas' normally used in the UK?

Not normally, but in this phrase, we say it.
