    "To convert prospects"

    Dear teachers,

if a company promises to its clients "to convert prospects" it means:

    1) a company provides its clients with new opportunities to develop business
    2) a company helps its clients to realize (come true) the opportunities the clients have

    Thank you!

    Re: "To convert prospects"

As an NES but not a teacher:

To me, "sales prospects" means " prospective sales" I.e. sales "leads".
"Converting prospects" then means converting "prospective sales" into actual sales orders.

    Regards

This is a specialized use of 'prospects'; and it's the riight one, I think.

    Re: "To convert prospects"

The term "Prospects" is also used in the oil & gas and minerals industries. However, even when working with "proven" reserves, it is difficult to promise convertion to commercial returns, particularly when "breaking technologically-new ground".

Salesmen, however, will promise anything to achieve a sale.
    Politicians aren't far behind them!
