    propose a room

    Hello,

I don't think that suggest or propose is good in the following context

(a student to an accommodation officer) I'd be most grateful if you could propose/suggest another room to me

I thinkg offer (or give) would be much better here. Could anybody comment on that, please?

    Thank you.

    Yes, "offer" is more natural.

And you should also let them know what the problem is with the existing room, to help them offer a more suitable one.
