    Sentence construction

    Please tell me which construction is correct and why:
    "I appreciate you contacting me."
    Or
    "I appreciate your contacting me."

    They are both OK. Grmmar purists prefer the use of the possessive adjective before a gerund, but the object pronoun is more common.
