    Default was sent / had been sent after if

    Hello,
    something was sent but we don't know whether it was send on the 8 th or the 9 th of March What do we say:

    If it was sent on the 8th of March then we need to file it under a different code.
    If it had been sent on the 8 th of March we need to file it under a fifferent code.

    You need to use the first sentence. Look at my amendments in red.
    Remember - correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing make posts much easier to read.
