    (Not a Teacher)

Gastronome, glutton, foodie, or gourmand fit the bill here.
If you feel like insulting someone, you could call them a pig or hog.

You are a great teacher for the nonnative. Thanks.
And which one suits when you're being funny and you don't want to hurt your friend who is chubby? (Humorously saying)

If you don't want to risk hurting your friend, don't say anything.

There may be a word used in a joking way among friends so we could have something to say in friendly groups. In our language we use SHEKAMOO especially for kids who eat a lot and if you call any friend with that no one would get hurt. Because this word is never used in an ironic or sarcastic way, but only for a friendly smile remembering childhood and friends.
Of course in different cultures you may not find the exact usage, but I might have searched.

This reminds me of an Iranian video I found teaching English conversation. In one of the set pieces, the guy opens up with, "You're getting fat."
I almost keeled over laughing. It's just so tactless to say stuff like that in polite conversation. Honestly, you need to be pretty close to someone to even broach that subject. You'd say something like, "I noticed you've been gaining a lot of weight lately. Is something going on?"
