Cool the call of the wild shape their behaviour??

The following sentnece is from an article which is abou the zoo's role as a keeper of the endangered wild animals.

even though the animals figure out that the hoots and howls are coming from black boxes, and not from furry or feathered neighbours, the call of the wild can shape their behaviour. here what does it mean by the call of the wild can shape their behaviour. ?

I'm not a teacher, but I can try to help you. I am assuming that what they mean by the call of the wild will shape their behaviour is stating that the calls other animals make will make their act or behave a certain way? Someone can correct me if im wrong but im assuming thats what it means.

The call of the wild is their instinctive response, their desire to live naturally, so even though it's artificial, it will still have an effect on them.
