    many (of)

    Many (of) car crashes
    1) How many of car crashes are preventable?
    2) How many car crashes are preventable?

    Many (of) people

    3) How many of people are here tonight?
    4) How many people are here tonight?

I think that the only one which is wrong is 3). Do you agree? If yes, then why is 1 correct?
