    Please correct my sentence.

"The day being fine, we decided to go playing."

Please also explain why is it wrong?

    Re: correction

It is wrong but not in grammar, merely in usage.

We decided to go shopping. We decided to go canoeing. We decided to go swimming. All these are natural, and many more as well.

But we would say "we decided to go and play." "We decided to go playing" simply is not heard. It's collective force of habit I suppose.

I like that. It sounds rather more authoritative than 'we just do' or 'that's just the way it is'.

shibli.aftab, you have been a member long enough to know that

'Thread titles should include all or part of the word/phrase being discussed.'

'The day being fine' would have been good for this.

    Re: correction

It's a very common construction in Irish English.
