Is "outskirt" farther than "suburb" or "uptown" from downtown?
What is the difference betwen "outskirt" and "surburb"?

'Outskirts' is only used in the plural, so we say 'Richmond is a suburb of London' or 'Richmond is on the outskirts of London'.
